Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP)
Help to Live Independently at Home
At Bromilow Community Care, we provide an extensive range of Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) services, all designed to keep people living independently in their own homes.
Cleaning and Domestic Support
CHSP domestic assistance is generally provided on a fortnightly basis and you will be assigned a regular cleaner who will arrive at the same time each fortnight and help to keep your home spotless!
Cleaning and domestic support
can include:
- Cleaning
- Dishwashing
- Clothes washing and ironing
- Some assistance with meal preparation
- Grocery shopping from a list.
Personal Care
At Bromilow, we can help support you at home with your Personal Care tasks under the CHSP. Personal care services have a co-payment from $10 per hour for weekday services, however on weekends and during public holidays they may attract a higher contribution.
Personal Care tasks can include:
- Showering or bathing
- Dressing and grooming
Social Support
The CHSP helps support you and your carer with your social needs, by allowing us
to buddy carers with similar interests who can support and help each other. Social support services attract a co-payment from $10 per hour for weekday services, however on weekends and public holidays they may attract a higher contribution.
These social support activities can include:
- In-home activities of the clients choice
- Community based activities encourage positive connections with communiy
- Assistance attending group activities
Respite Care
Bromilow are a leading provider of in-home respite services on the Sunshine Coast. Our approach is flexible and engaging, providing meaningful opportunities for our clients to engage in enjoyable activities while offering respite to their family and primary carers.
Respite care can be accessed on a regular basis or when requested by the carer. Our funding is flexible enough so that it allows for the special support requirements of those caring for family members with dementia and other complex needs.
During your respite care, you have the option to be taken out into the community to meet with friends or to take part in any other activity that you choose.
Services start at $10 per hour for regular short engagements, whilst longer periods (generally up to three days at a time) can be accessed from as little as $35 per 24-hour period, providing intensive live-in support when it is required.
Activities covered during respite visits can include:
- Assistance with activities of daily living.
- Meal preparation and help with cooking.
- Showering and personal hygiene support.
- Transport to and from appointments and community access.
- Assistance with managing medications.
- Overnight and 24-hour care.
Eligibility
CHSP provides home support to people aged 65 years and over or 50 years and over for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people) who need assistance with daily life to remain living independently at home and in the community.
The CHSP also supports primary carers and family members with planned respite services, allowing regular carers to take a break from their usual caring duties.
Approval for CHSP services is granted by My Aged Care after referral and assessment. To be assessed for services, clients will first have to register with My Aged Care by calling 1800 200 422.
Once registered, an assessment agent will visit you at home to discuss your needs and which CHSP services may benefit you to live more independently at home.
Please specify that you would like Bromilow to provide your CHSP services and the Assessment Agency will forward your referral to our office. However, if you would prefer, we can make a referral to My Aged Care on your behalf to get the ball rolling.
