Respite Care

Bromilow are a leading provider of in-home respite services on the Sunshine Coast. Our approach is flexible and engaging, providing meaningful opportunities for our clients to engage in enjoyable activities while offering respite to their family and primary carers.

Respite care can be accessed on a regular basis or when requested by the carer. Our funding is flexible enough so that it allows for the special support requirements of those caring for family members with dementia and other complex needs.

During your respite care, you have the option to be taken out into the community to meet with friends or to take part in any other activity that you choose.

Services start at $10 per hour for regular short engagements, whilst longer periods (generally up to three days at a time) can be accessed from as little as $35 per 24-hour period, providing intensive live-in support when it is required.

Activities covered during respite visits can include:

  • Assistance with activities of daily living
  • Meal preparation and help with cooking
  • Showering and personal hygiene support
  • Transport to and from appointments and community access
  • Assistance with managing medications
  • Overnight and 24-hour care

Eligibility and Access

The CHSP provides home support for frail, older people (aged 65 years and over or 50 years and over for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people) who need assistance with daily life to remain living independently at home and in the community.

The CHSP also supports primary carers and family members with planned respite services, allowing regular carers to take a break from their usual caring duties.

Approval for CHSP services is granted by My Aged Care after referral and assessment. To be assessed for services, clients will first have to register with My Aged Care by calling 1800 200 422.

Once registered, an assessment agent will visit you at home to discuss your needs and which CHSP services may benefit you to live more independently at home.

Please specify that you would like Bromilow to provide your CHSP services and the Assessment Agency will forward your referral to our office. However, if you would prefer, we can make a referral to My Aged Care on your behalf to get the ball rolling. Please give us a call on 5445 5676 or complete our online enquiry form below.
