Disability Support

In-home support for people with a disability

Through the Queensland Community Care Program (QCCP), Bromilow Community Care provides a broad range of individualised support services for people with a disability or condition that restricts their day-to-day living.

These services include:

  • In-home services: Domestic assistance, such as cleaning, washing and ironing.
  • Social Support and transport: Group activities and social support, including help to attend appointments or for shopping and banking, as well as community activities.
  • Respite care: In-home or centre-based respite care to help carers take a break from their role.

In order to access QCCP services, the person who requires the services must fulfil ALL of the following requirements:

  • Under 65 years of age or under 50 for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • Has a moderate, severe or profound disability or a condition which restricts their  ability to carry out the normal activities of daily living.
  • Living in the community, but having difficulty performing the core activities of daily living* due to functional limitations.
  • Is at risk of losing their independence without assistance from Community Care.

* Core activities of daily living are communication, self-care and mobility. Core activity tasks include dressing, bathing or showering, preparing meals, house cleaning and maintenance, and using public transport.

Generally, people who receive similar specialist disability services funded through Disability Services are not eligible for QCCP services as well. In addition, people who are assessed as eligible for the NDIS are not eligible to receive Community Care services.

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) has overhauled the funding and provision of disability services in Australia, moving to a model that seeks to give people with a disability more choice and control over the support they receive.

The NDIS also seeks to promote support that is personalised to an individual’s needs, helping people to achieve their goals and to develop their independence. It is being progressively rolled out around the country and will be available to eligible Sunshine Coast residents from 1 January 2019.

Bromilow Community Care can provide services to users of the NDIS who have elected to self manage their NDIS funding. Services are priced as per our Private Service Rates
