In-home respite care provides a valuable service for family carers by allowing them to have a break from their caring role - it allows family carers ‘time-out' to enhance their own lives.
Like all of its services, Bromilow's in-home respite services are very flexible and are available 365 days a year. Respite care may also include support with personal care and household tasks such as cleaning, ironing and shopping.
A significant component of Bromilow’s respite program focuses on assisting clients to access community activities and personal interests so that they can re-establish or maintain contact with the important strands of their lives.
Bromilow’s in-home respite support is available for short periods of time but we also offer an extended service, including overnight or for periods of 24 hours or longer.
Services are arranged in full consultation with carers and are designed to flexibly and responsively address the variety of diverse needs that family carers may have.
Bromilow is an approved provider of respite services through the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) which is funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health. CHSP services attract a government subsidy. The maximum fee for in-home respite care under the CHSP is currently $10.00 per hour for full pensioners, and $15.00 per hour for part pensioners (although fees do attract loadings on weekends and public holidays). Inability to afford the full fee does not prevent carers from accessing CHSP services.
Assistance is also available on a fee for service basis.
